Don’t Drink And Drive

Do not drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Do not put your own life at risk, or the life of your family or friends.

Avoid Distracted Driving

Do not wear headphones or use mobile phones while driving. Be responsible.

Stick To Your Lane

Stay at your designated lane while driving on the Expressway. In case you want get off the road, use indicator and give at least 10 seconds before you shift lanes.

Use Designated Connectors

Use the designated connectors to take a roundabout or get off the Expressway.

No Speeding

Do not drive above the speed of 80km/hour on the Expressway. Become a safer driver.

Listen To Traffic

Listen to traffic you cannot see. Avoid listening to loud music and open your windows slightly to keep alert.

No Children In Front Seat

Children under the age of 12 years should not be allowed to sit in the front seat to prevent them from hitting the dashboard upon braking.

Baby On Board

Use signs like ‘Child On Board’ while travelling with a child in your vehicle.

Use Low Beam

In case you’re driving in fog, drive with low beam, to be able to see and be seen by other drivers.

Traffic Precaution

Follow painted lane markings as a guide in case of zero visibility and watch out for stationary vehicles.

Don't Stop On Expressway

Do not stop your vehicle in the middle of the road. If your car stalls, switch your blinkers and move to the shoulders/rest spots on the left of the Expressway.

Wear Seat Belt

The driver and all the passengers in the vehicle, including rear seat passengers need to wear seat belts.

Don't Use Shoulder Lane For Driving

The shoulder lanes are meant for vehicles to stop, do not use the shoulder lane for driving.

Combat Fatigue

If you’ve been driving for long hours and feel fatigued, park your car at the nearest rest stop.

Pay Attention To Road Signages

The road signages on the Expressway provide prior information before turns, tunnels and steep road ahead.

Avoid Improper Parking of Vehicles

Improper parking of vehicles have increasingly been resulting in serious and fatal crashes on the Expressway. Please ensure that you do not stop or park your vehicle on the road.

Check Vehicles Lights

Make sure all lights are functional. Keep headlights, tail lights and signal lights clean. External dirt and debris can dim operational lights from being seen by others.

Do Not Overload Vehicles

Know the weight and weight limit of your vehicle. Ensure that your vehicle is not overloaded.

Check Your Tires

Check tire pressure before leaving. It can help you prevent accidents and improve your gas mileage.

No Overtaking From the Left

Do not commence an overtaking manoeuvre when approaching a crest, curve or any limited vision situation.

How to save a person's life in an accident

CHECK

1. Ensure the scene is safe before approaching the victim. Look for any threat sign such as fuel, live electrical wires etc.

2. Avoid direct contact with blood and body fluids to ensure your own safety. Use disposable gloves before providing any emergency care.

3. Check to see if the victim responds by tapping the victim on her/his shoulder gently and asking "Are you ok?"

CALL

Call the emergency helpline number at 98224 98224 and report the incident

CARE

1. Incase of no response shift the victim to the police vehicle or ambulance using a stretcher / spine board. Ensure neck and spine remains in a secure position during this process and transportation.

2. Do NOT move the victim with a jerk. Victim could have a neck or back injury.

3. Perform CPR.

4. Heavy bleeding MUST be stopped. Apply and MAINTAIN pressure on the wound.

5. Do NOT attempt to remove any foreign object lodged in the body.

HOW TO PERFORM CPR

1. Kneel beside the victim. 2. Put the heel of your palm on the breast bone of the victim (between the two nipples). Place your other hand over that hand locking your fingers together.

3. Position your shoulders over the hand, keeping your arms straight.

4. Give 100 chest compressions in 60 seconds and then check for pulse. Compress the chest atleast 2 inches and allow the chest to rise completely before pressing down again.

5. Continue the cycle of 100 compressions and pulse check until you reach the hospital or the victim regains consciousness.
